About the role

Froid des Mascareignes (FDM) is a cold-storage company exclusively dedicated to seafood product storage which also offers packing and export services. The cluster represents IBL’s investments in the vertically integrated Mauritian tuna value chain. Being a considerable source of revenue for the group, as well as an important forex earner for the country, IBL Seafood will soon be converting its effluent into energy through Energie des Mascareignes, making its tuna operations the island’s first zero-waste industry from the fish caught to the final co-products, thus contributing to IBL’s sustainability objectives. Marine Biotechnology Products Côte d’Ivoire is part of the Cluster’s international expansion. Job Purpose The Quality Executive will be responsible for ensuring compliance with company standards, food safety requirements, customer specifications and applicable legislation across our operations. The successful candidate will support and monitor food safety, hygiene and quality activities across our facility. This position is ideal for a proactive individual with knowledge of food safety practices, seafood handling and cold chain management. Key Responsibilities • Verify cold chain compliance for frozen products during unloading, handling, storage and delivery. • Monitor temperature of cold rooms and product handling areas. • Support maintenance of BRCGS certification. • Conduct hygiene inspections and environment monitoring activities. • Monitor food safety and hygiene practices on the premises. • Coordinate with Operations and Maintenance departments ensure compliance to company standards and requirements. • Maintain accurate documentation and organised records. • Investigate non conformities and assist with corrective and preventive actions. • Develop and provide training on hygiene, food safety and best practices. • Support internal, customer and regulatory audits. • Analyse food safety, hygiene, temperature monitoring and inspection data to identify trends. • Identify opportunities for process improvement. • Compile, prepare and submit accurate reports to the Quality Manager. • Promote a strong food safety culture within the company. Qualifications & Experience • Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Quality Management, Microbiology or a related field. • Minimum 5 years of experience in quality assurance, preferably in seafood or food manufacturing industry. • Knowledge of HACCP or BRCGS or other food safety management system standard. • Familiarity with frozen products handling and cold chain management will be an advantage. • Strong attention to detail. • Good analytical and problem-solving skills. • Ability to work in fast-paced cold environments and operational areas. • Good communication and reporting skills. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office. • Ability to work flexible hours when required.
