A Coach Driver (Driver) with a Passenger Endorsement is responsible for operating vehicles such as Van Hools, MCIs, or other large passenger-carrying vehicles. Drivers transport passengers to various destinations safely and efficiently. Drivers play a vital role in the transportation industry, ensuring that passengers reach their destinations safely and comfortably. They must demonstrate professionalism, excellent driving skills, and a commitment to passenger safety at all times. Specifically, the Driver will be responsible for: DOT Compliance: Department of Transportation (DOT) regulates Commercial Driver's License (CDL) drivers through various regulations to ensure safety on the roads. Here are some key regulations that CDL drivers must adhere to: o Hours of Service (HOS): The DOT sets limits on the number of hours CDL drivers can operate a commercial vehicle without taking breaks or rest periods. These regulations aim to prevent driver fatigue and ensure that drivers are well-rested while on the road. o Drug and Alcohol Testing: CDL drivers are subject to drug and alcohol testing as mandated by DOT regulations. This includes pre-employment testing, random testing, post-accident testing, and testing based on reasonable suspicion. o Vehicle Inspection: CDL drivers are required to conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of their vehicles to ensure they are in safe operating condition. Any defects or issues must be reported and addressed before the vehicle is operated. o Licensing Requirements: CDL drivers must possess a valid commercial driver's license issued by the state in which they reside. The type of CDL required depends on the type of vehicle being operated and the nature of the cargo being transported. A “P” Endorsement is required for Passengers. o Medical Certification: CDL drivers are required to undergo a medical examination and obtain a medical certificate from a certified medical examiner to ensure they are physically fit to operate a commercial vehicle. o Recordkeeping: CDL drivers are required to maintain accurate records of their driving activities, including hours worked, miles driven, and inspections conducted. These records must be kept up-to-date and made available for inspection upon request. Samsara is used to manage hours worked at Charitos for Hire and to record hours worked outside the company. o Traffic Violations: CDL drivers are held to a higher standard when it comes to traffic violations.
