About the role

Are you someone who takes pride in every interaction — with patients, clients, and teammates alike? Do you believe that exceptional care starts the moment a patient walks through the door?

Creekside Animal Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our team and support exceptional experiences for our clients and patients across all aspects of hospital care — and we mean exceptional in every sense of the word. We're building the "Disneyland" of veterinary medicine in West Lafayette, and our clinical team is the heart of that experience.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated assistant who enjoys variety in their day and wants to grow their skillset in a structured, supportive environment. We have tiered Vet Assistant levels (1–4) based on experience and skill development — most candidates are hired at Level 1, and how quickly you grow determines how quickly your pay grows with you. Prior experience is a plus, but we are absolutely willing to train the right person. What we can't teach is attitude, work ethic, and a genuine love for animals and people — bring those, and we'll build the rest together.

In this position, you will take an active role in:

  • Supporting efficient exam room check-in, outpatient, and procedural workflows
  • Assisting veterinarians during exams, treatments, and outpatient procedures
  • Providing safe, gentle patient handling and restraint during outpatient and procedural care
  • Preparing patients, equipment, and treatment areas for appointments and procedures
  • Performing basic patient care including oral medication administration, TPR/NT/AG, and exam notes and scribing
  • Maintaining accurate medical records and treatment documentation
  • Reviewing treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately
  • Building positive client relationships through education, communication, and attentive service
  • Maintaining clean, organized, and fully prepared exam rooms, treatment areas, and procedural spaces

Schedule and compensation:

  • Compensation: $15.00 – $22.00 per hour, for each hour worked — based on experience level
  • Most entry level candidates start in the $15 – $16/hour range with clear pathways to advance
  • Schedule: This is a full-time position , with a 4 x 10 schedule and availability needed Monday–Saturday . Shifts are structured as approximately 3.5 days Monday–Friday plus rotating every other Saturday. No on-call requirements.

Full-time Benefits Package*:

  • Bonus package: Up to $500 depending on experience
  • Health package: Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Life insurance and disability
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • 401k with company match
  • Paid time off in accordance with site policy and applicable law
  • Personal pet discount
  • Uniform allowance

*Part-time team members may be eligible for limited benefits in accordance with company policy and state law

Minimum qualifications and skill set:

  • 1+ years of experience in a veterinary assistant, animal care, kennel assistant, or related role preferred
  • Proficiency in the following skills:
  • Safe animal handling and restraint skills for dogs and cats of varying sizes and temperaments
  • Knowledge of basic veterinary terminology and patient care principles
  • Ability to assist with exams, treatments, and outpatient procedures
  • Experience collecting patient histories and obtaining patient weights and vital signs preferred
  • Ability to maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established protocols
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Compassionate, professional communication with clients and team members
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
  • Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
  • Physical ability to stand, bend, lift, and restrain patients safely throughout the workday
  • Commitment to exceptional patient care and client service
