Job Overview The Commercial Plumbing Technician , under the direction of the General Manager, is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of high-pressure water jetting equipment to clean, maintain, and restore grease traps, sewer systems, storm drains, and other drainage infrastructure at commercial and industrial customer sites. This position requires a strong understanding of commercial plumbing and drainage systems, exceptional mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience diagnosing and resolving drainage and plumbing-related issues, operating specialized equipment, and performing preventive maintenance services. This role plays a critical part in preserving the integrity of customer infrastructure, supporting environmental compliance requirements, and delivering high-quality service that exceeds client expectations. Additional Perks: Company-paid life and disability insurance, employee assistance program, and more Supportive Leadership: Leadership that values safety, professionalism and growth Essential Job Functions Operate hydro jetting machines to clear blockages and clean sewer, storm, and drain lines. Conduct pre‑ and post‑job inspections using video inspection tools when required. Diagnose line issues and determine appropriate jetting pressure and techniques. Safely load, transport, and unload jetting equipment and tools to/from job sites. Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of jetting equipment to ensure optimal performance. Accurately complete work orders, service reports, and documentation. Adhere to all safety protocols and wear required PPE at all times. Communicate job status, findings, and recommendations clearly with customers and team members. Identify and report unsafe conditions or equipment issues. Assist with general plumbing or drain maintenance tasks as needed. Support grease trap maintenance, including cleaning, repair, and replacement at commercial and industrial sites. Participate in 24/7 on‑call rotations to respond to urgent service requests (backups, spills, flooding). Ensure all work complies with local, state, and federal environmental regulations and WRM sustainability standards. Collaborate with other departments (plumbing, septic, roll‑off services) and cross‑train to assist in related service areas. Provide clients with information on preventative maintenance and sustainable waste practices. Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all job sites, including proper disposal of debris and waste materials. Perform other duties as assigned. May require occasional overtime, weekends or holiday shifts as dictated by business needs What You Need: High school diploma or GED required; previous relevant experience may replace educational requirements. 2–4 years of hands‑on experience with hydro jetting and drain cleaning in a commercial environment. Combination of education and/or experience will be considered (e.g., vocational training, apprenticeships, or certifications in plumbing or environmental services). Proficiency in operating various jetting nozzles and adjusting pressure settings. Familiarity with video inspection systems and ability to interpret footage. Basic understanding of plumbing codes, drainage layouts, and related regulations. Ability to perform minor equipment troubleshooting and maintenance. Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment. Demonstrated ability to mentor and support junior technicians. Desired Certifications: WJTA Hydroblaster Certification – preferred. OSHA 10‑Hour or 30‑Hour Construction Safety Course – preferred. Confined Space Entry Certification – preferred.
