About the role

Froid des Mascareignes (FDM) is a cold-storage company exclusively dedicated to seafood product storage which also offers packing and export services. The cluster represents IBL’s investments in the vertically integrated Mauritian tuna value chain. Being a considerable source of revenue for the group, as well as an important forex earner for the country, IBL Seafood will soon be converting its effluent into energy through Energie des Mascareignes, making its tuna operations the island’s first zero-waste industry from the fish caught to the final co-products, thus contributing to IBL’s sustainability objectives. Marine Biotechnology Products Côte d’Ivoire is part of the Cluster’s international expansion. Job Purpose Froid des Mascareignes Ltd is looking to recruit a Mechanic who will be responsible to Carry out servicing of all forklift and Reach truck of the company. Key Responsibilities • Support maintenance technicians during servicing and repairs by handling tools, cleaning parts, and preparing work areas. • Learn basic MHE components and safe handling of parts and fluids. • Assist in workshop housekeeping, tool care, and part labeling/storing. • Carry out minor tasks like greasing, inflating tires, or checking fluid levels under close supervision. • Strictly follow safety instructions, use PPE, and report unsafe conditions. • Observe and learn safety practices like lock-out/tag-out, proper lifting, etc. • Participate in on-the-job training with senior mechanics or supervisors. • Attend toolbox talks and technical briefings. • Assist in noting down observations or tasks performed, as guided. • Be available and supportive during repair jobs, shutdowns, or breakdowns. • Maintain a respectful and cooperative behavior with team and stakeholders. • Perform general maintenance support tasks as instructed. • Show willingness to learn, adapt, and follow instructions. • Embody FDM values: Excellence, Purpose, Identity, Connection. • To abide by all FDM’s internal rules, regulations, policies and procedures including Health & Safety, BRCGS and EU Regulations as per given training. Qualifications & Experience • NTC Level 3 • equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Motor Vehicle Mechanics, Heavy Equipment Maintenance, or Industrial Mechanics. • At least 3 years’ experience in the relevant field Other Requisites • Willing to work odd hours and on a shift system • Passionate, energic, team player, honest and discipline • Ability to work under pressure • Good communication skills, organizational and problem solving skills We are an equal opportunity employer and are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment for all team members.
