POSITION: Production Manager REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: Business Unit Manager -PKS Civil FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS: Christchurch Production, Manufacturing, QA Support Teams LOCATION: Pokeno, North Waikato DATE EFFECTIVE: TBC Objective Main Objective of the Position Lead manufacturing operations striving for excellence and continuously improving Safety, Quality, Engagement, Service and Efficiency results. Take a senior leadership role as part of the site team to support delivery of outstanding results across the entire business. Key Areas of Responsibility Health Safety Promote and build a positive Health, Safety and Wellbeing culture. Ensure all Health and Safety policies, processes and procedures are adhered to including reporting, investigations, corrective actions, audits and escalation of non-conformances Team Leadership Build a culture of engagement, trust and teamwork Develop and implement training processes and systems to ensure business continuity and team development are prioritised Support and develop capability and ensure compliance with legal requirements and, company processes and practices. Quality Assurance Ensure that all product is manufactured in accordance with the relevant NZ Standards and in-house specifications Overall responsibility for production product quality including non-conformance investigation and application of corrective actions and controls; and achieving waste reduction Work proactively across the business to ensure the required level of quality is understood and achieved Operations Productivity Work proactively with other business functions to optimise production efficiency, service delivery and financial performance. Responsibility for Manufacturing reporting requirements ensuring timely and accurate data capture. Develop processes, systems and capability to ensure all have appropriate resources available to meet production requirements. Accountability for Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Housekeeping (GHP) Continuous Improvement and Efficiency Identify and implement programmes to improve efficiency and output and reduce waste and downtime Build a culture of continuous improvement and capability to execute new initiatives. Training Complete on-going upskilling and training as required. Assist with training others Leadership Actively leads team to high performance through coaching, mentoring and development activities Inspires others by setting and clearly communicating strategy to drive team members to achieve personal and team objectives Allocates resources and delegates tasks / projects in a way that supports and stretches team members to achieve desired individual and team outcomes Rewards and recognises team and individual successes Motivates team members by linking individual and team work to the achievement of Hynds strategy Empowers others to take ownership of their teams and ideas to deliver results Demonstrates courage by taking on tough challenges and leading through change Coaches others to be leaders Role models Hynds Values and creates an environment of excitement and energy that drives high performance. Foster a strong and collaborative safety culture Facilitates and participates in regular Health, Safety, Environmental Meetings Identifies and facilitates the delivery of specific training for people to do their job safely Develops and delivers the Annual Health, Safety, Environmental Improvement site plan Key Attributes Experience Minimum 5 years leadership experience in a manufacturing environment Problem solving skills and willingness to learn Professional, fair and balanced people skills Good decision making and value judgements, with an understanding of the impact of decisions Team building and leadership capabilities Positive “can do” attitude Customer focus Time management – ability to organize and manage multiple priorities Health and Safety champion Proficient in administrative and computer functions Technical Experience in plastic or fabrication / sub assembly manufacturing (or similar) preferred Experience working in a plastic manufacturing setting including knowledge of operation and maintenance preferred Project management skillset- ie ability to manage multiple parts and sections to achieve an overall goal particularly as a startup function Proven mechanical or electrical aptitude Forklift (F) licence endorsement Team Player Flexible, reliable and customer focused.Communicates effectively with the wider team and operates in a respectful and supportive manner.
