About the role
Summary: Under the supervision and direction of the Chairman of the Deacon Board, the Director of Operations shall be responsible for the administrative, finance and accounting, logistical, maintenance, and personnel functions of the Church. The Director of Operations will coordinate with Official Boards, Appointed Staff, and Standing Committee of the Church for executing the duties and responsibilities assigned. The Director of Operations shall be a member of the Pastoral Executive Committee. Duties and Responsibilities The duties and responsibilities of the Director of Operations will be as follows: Plan and direct the delivery of a wide variety of administrative functions including clerical and secretarial support, financial administration, facilities management, maintenance, purchasing, and security of the church. Work with and report the Deacon Board, Board of Trustees, Finance Committee, Benevolence Committee, and the Personnel Committee to investigate the financial risks involved in acquisitions, mergers, resource allocation, including budget and personnel. Develop operating procedures in support of the Church's strategic and business objectives and evaluate each function's progress against performance objectives. Direct the risk analysis program in order to protect and maintain assets of the Church by developing an identification and assessment of financial risk and provide maximum protection to Church assets. Manage logistical and maintenance needs of the Church including fleet, custodial services, program administration, training, marketing, and staffing. Establish standards, guidelines, and policies in order to ensure that the Church is in compliance with the Bible, Articles of Incorporations, the Church Policies and Procedures Manual, government regulations, legal standards, and standard operating procedures for all functions of the Church. Maintain a high level of security and integrity of Church resources at all times. Maintain a professional business attire and dress code. Other duties as assigned Education, Experience and Skill Required: Four-year college degree in public administration, business management, accounting or related field. Experience in public relations, preferably in one of the previously listed fields, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of general administrations and operations procedures. Considerable knowledge of organization and programs management in the religious community and other community agencies and groups that can assist PUMBC further its mission and help provide for the spiritual, health, and welfare of church members and non-members. Ability to establish and promote effective working relationships with, Pastor, Board of Officers, church members, employees, etc. Ability to counsel. Ability to prepare periodic reports in a professional manner. Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills. Considerable computer and automated skill with knowledge of a variety of Word processing, spreadsheets, and other software applications. Must possess a valid Alabama driver's license, possess and maintain a good driver's record and must be insurable by the Church's insurance policy including bonding capacity.
