About the role

Summary of Position Responsibility: Purchase assigned commodities assuring effective utilization of company funds to maintain the required flow of quality purchased parts, service, material, and costs. Adhere to corporate and department policies and procedures including ethical standards of conduct. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Develop specific short and long range commodity objectives and forecasts toward reducing material cost and improving service. Schedule, analyze and execute planned orders; develop and investigate sources of supply; issue request for quotations; take initiative and coordinate with Engineering development of substitutes when commodity is not available or a savings in cost or improved delivery will result. Analyze & process all forms of Engineering Notices. Develop most suitable purchasing strategy including purchase orders, blanket orders, annual agreements and vendor stocking programs. Handle adjustments with vendors involving material return and/or replacement and/or invoice discrepancies. Evaluate vendor performance based on objective knowledge of prices deliveries, product acceptance and service. Audit suppliers to investigate capability and capacity; expedite delivery problems and establish proper channels of communications. Responsible for team leadership where assigned by Manager. Provide advice and counsel to Buyers. Other duties may be assigned or required for the performance of this position. Job Requirements: Broad knowledge of business administration and subcontracting methods and procedures. Bachelor's degree required. Minimum of five years experience.
