For more information, visit www.worldbank.org VPU Context: The WBG Budget and Procurement Vice Presidency (WBP) provides trusted advice and services in resource management, strategic planning, budget execution, and corporate procurement management. WBP helps the World Bank Group align its resources with strategic priorities and manage them effectively. WBP is organized into five departments: IBRD/IDA Budget Partners for Regional Units (WBPRU), WBG Budget Partners for Corporate and Knowledge Units (WBPCU), WBG Centers of Excellence (WBPCE), WBG Corporate Procurement (WBPCP), IFC MIGA Budget Partners (CSRDR). Department and Unit Context: Centers of Excellence (WBPCE), part of the Budget and Procurement Vice Presidency, provides centralized support in financial planning, corporate operational reporting, and budget solutions across all WBP units. WBPCE is organized into three functional areas of which WBPCH is a centralized, tech-forward center for delivering end-to-end automated processes including transaction support, building and maintaining budget tools, internal controls, business processing and analytics, and systems stewardship across IBRD, IFC, and MIGA. The unit operates across six workstreams, with a mandate to continuously improve service delivery through automation, self-service solutions, and advanced data capabilities. Duties and accountabilities: As a Senior Finance Officer within WBPCE, the job holder will serve as a team leader responsible for coordinating across workstreams and enabling the efficient delivery of the unit's work program. Specific accountabilities include: • This is a high-visibility role with direct exposure to WBP management and cross-VPU client units. It requires the ability to independently manage competing priorities, navigate ambiguity, and consistently deliver high-quality outcomes. Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong track record of leading and driving assignments of comparable scope and complexity. • Lead and develop a team of finance professionals, setting clear performance expectations, coaching staff toward stretch goals, and providing constructive feedback and development support while fostering accountability for results. The incumbent is accountable for the team's overall output quality and turnaround and is expected to model technical and professional excellence. • Lead end-to-end design and deployment of automation solutions using Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI) and AI-assisted tools, with demonstrable outcomes in reducing manual processing time and error rates. The incumbent is expected to play a hands-on role in designing, prototyping, and deploying solutions in partnership with IT and other stakeholders, while ensuring solutions remain effective as business needs evolve. • Delivering robust analytics and data mining capabilities that uncover trends and insights across the unit's data, and telling a compelling story through advanced visualization and reporting to support better decision-making • Serving as a trusted advisory partner to clients and senior management, moving beyond transactional processing toward strategic guidance on resource management and budget solutions • Innovating and improving service delivery models, including self-service options, automated triage, and enhanced use of data to improve client experience. The incumbent will support these initiatives through the full lifecycle, from concept development and design through implementation and user adoption. • Coordinate across teams, work programs, and client units to ensure alignment and quality, including navigating competing priorities, resolving escalations, and maintaining delivery commitments in a fast-paced environment. The incumbent is expected to apply sound judgment in balancing competing priorities and delivery commitments. • Building and maintaining strong client relationships, representing WBPCE and influencing client decisions on how financial resources are managed. • Maintain rigorous data governance and internal control standards across team outputs, including documentation of methodology, audit trails, and version control. Identify and escalate financial or operational risks proactively and contribute to the unit's controls strengthening agenda.
