About the role

Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot PLC, SCADA, and DCS systems supporting continuous process operations across the QAFCO ammonia and urea fertilizer plant Perform configuration, programming, and modification of PLC logic (Siemens S7, Allen Bradley, or equivalent) and SCADA/HMI interfaces under approved Management of Change (MOC) procedures Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on field instrumentation, control panels, actuators, solenoid valves, and automation hardware; ensure minimal process disruption during interventions Support DCS (Honeywell Experion, ABB 800xA, or equivalent) maintenance activities including controller backups, loop checks, alarm rationalization, and functional safety testing Participate in Safety Instrumented System (SIS) testing and proof tests for Safety Instrumented Functions (SIFs) in compliance with IEC 61511 / IEC 61508 standards Coordinate with process, electrical, and instrumentation teams during plant shutdowns and turnarounds to execute automation scope, loop testing, and system recommissioning Maintain automation documentation including as-built drawings, cause-and-effect diagrams, loop folders, and change records in compliance with QAFCO engineering and HSE standards Requirements Diploma in Automation, Instrumentation, Electrical, or related engineering discipline PLC/SCADA Certification (mandatory); certifications from Siemens, Rockwell Automation (Allen Bradley), or equivalent OEM are highly valued 4–7 years of hands-on automation maintenance experience in the Oil & Gas or Fertilizer industry; ammonia/urea or petrochemical plant experience is highly preferred Proven plant experience with DCS, SIS/ESD systems, SCADA/HMI configuration, and PLC programming in a live process environment Familiarity with functional safety standards IEC 61511 / IEC 61508 and experience in SIL verification and proof testing of safety instrumented functions Knowledge of industrial communication protocols: Modbus, Profibus, HART, Foundation Fieldbus, and OPC; experience with network infrastructure in a plant automation environment Experience with SAP PM for work order management and maintaining automation maintenance records and equipment history Candidates available to join immediately are strongly preferred
