About the role
Job Summary: As a Mechanic specializing in 2-stroke engines and small equipment at Hatanga Ltd, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of various 2-stroke and small engines used in outdoor power equipment. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the optimal performance and longevity of these engines, which are commonly found in lawn mowers, chainsaws, trimmers, and other related equipment. You will work closely with our team to provide high-quality service to our customers and uphold our reputation for excellence in engine repair. Reports To: Mechanic Supervisor - Light Vehicles Work Location: Kukum Head Office Responsibilities: Diagnose and identify issues with 2-stroke engines, utilizing diagnostic tools and techniques to determine root causes of problems. Perform routine maintenance tasks such as spark plug replacement, carburettor cleaning, and air filter inspection to keep engines running smoothly. Conduct thorough inspections of engines to assess their condition and identify any potential areas of concern. Disassemble engines as needed to repair or replace faulty components, following manufacturer specifications and safety guidelines. Test repaired engines to ensure proper functionality and performance before returning them to customers. Keep accurate records of work performed, including parts used, labour hours, and customer information, using our digital management system. Provide excellent customer service by addressing customer inquiries, explaining repair procedures, and offering advice on engine maintenance and care. Measurable Responsibilities: Achieve agreed number of engine repairs per week, meeting or exceeding established productivity targets. Maintain a high first-time fix rate by ensuring accurate diagnosis and effective repair techniques. Complete routine maintenance tasks within specified timeframes, ensuring that engines are serviced promptly and efficiently. Reduce turnaround time for engine repairs through improved workflow management and optimization of repair processes. Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction, as evidenced by positive feedback and ratings, aiming for a customer satisfaction. Minimize the occurrence of repeat repairs by implementing thorough testing procedures and quality assurance measures. Continuously improve technical skills and knowledge through ongoing training and professional development opportunities, with the goal of achieving certification in 2-stroke engine repair. Requirements Competencies (Knowledge/Skills/Experience): Certificate or diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in small engine repair is preferred. Proven experience as a mechanic specializing in 2-stroke engines, with a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience. Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing 2-stroke engines, with a strong understanding of engine components and systems. Familiarity with diagnostic tools and equipment used in engine repair, such as compression testers, ignition testers, and fuel pressure gauges. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in workmanship, ensuring that repairs are completed to the highest standards. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and colleagues.
