Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Reproductive Psychiatrist who is passionate about our mission, loves to mentor and train clinicians, and build high-functioning teams. This is a unique opportunity to oversee clinical excellence at FamilyWell and shape the future of integrated women's mental health care. The medical director will play a pivotal role in developing evidence-based treatment protocols, overseeing clinical quality, and ensuring exceptional patient outcomes across the reproductive mental health spectrum. The Medical Director will initially report directly to the CEO and serve as a key clinical voice in strategic planning, product design, and patient experience. This position is virtual with flexible work hours.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership

  • Provide clinical oversight and supervision for provider teams including psychiatric nurse practitioners and therapists.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based treatment protocols evaluating impact on patient outcomes and revenue sustainability
  • Build and oversee quality assurance to ensure adherence to clinical best practices, safety standards, and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide clinical supervision and mentorship for psychiatric nurse practitioners, conducting case reviews and supporting direct patient care.
  • Lead the clinical strategy and vision for women's reproductive mental health services.
  • Partner closely with executive leadership to shape the strategic direction of FamilyWell by providing clinical expertise that drives the development and expansion of innovative service offerings and clinical programs.
  • Analyze data and clinical outcomes to develop insights for clinical practice and presentation of thought leadership both internally and externally.
  • Stay current with emerging research and integrate new findings into clinical practice.
  • Participate in product development and clinical innovation initiatives.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Establish and maintain clinical quality metrics and outcome measures.
  • Ensure compliance with state licensing requirements, HIPAA, and other regulatory standards.
  • Oversee risk management protocols and patient safety initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain clinical documentation standards.

Team Leadership

  • Recruit, hire, and supervise clinical staff including psychiatrists, therapists, and nurse practitioners.
  • Provide ongoing clinical supervision, training, and professional development.
  • Foster a collaborative, supportive virtual work environment.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and support career growth for clinical team members.

Candidate Profile

Required

  • Medical Degree (MD) from an accredited medical school.
  • Board certification in Psychiatry.
  • Advanced training in reproductive psychiatry.
  • Minimum 3 years of clinical practice specifically in reproductive psychiatry.
  • Current medical license in good standing (multi-state licensing preferred).
  • Ability and willingness to work virtually with patients across multiple states, including obtaining additional state licenses as needed to serve our patient population.

Nice to Have / Negotiable

  • Previous role as a medical director at a startup or digital health company with telehealth/virtual care delivery models.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience in clinical settings.
  • Experience in clinical education, training, and team building.
  • Clinical experience working as a psychiatric consultant in a collaborative care program.
  • Familiarity with measurement-based care and clinical outcome tracking.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, remote startup environment with evolving priorities and limited structure. Comfortable adapting quickly, embracing change, and experimenting with new ideas and approaches.
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous improvement.
