Position Summary
The Mining Journeyman Electrician performs the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, commissioning, and repair of electrical systems within active mining and industrial environments. This position requires a highly skilled electrician capable of working independently while supporting mine infrastructure, processing facilities, substations, MCCs, conveyor systems, crushers, pumps, hoists, and other critical mining equipment.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, test, and repair electrical systems and equipment used in surface and underground mining operations.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on motors, conveyors, crushers, pumps, substations, MCCs, switchgear, transformers, VFDs, and processing equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and construction drawings.
- Install conduit systems, cable tray, grounding systems, power distribution equipment, lighting systems, and instrumentation controls.
- Perform electrical testing, commissioning, startup, and operational verification of mining and industrial equipment.
- Execute lockout/tagout procedures and comply with all MSHA, NEC, and site safety requirements.
