The CNC Machinist I performs standard CNC machining operations in a production aerospace environment under supervision, following documented processes and tooling. They execute programmed machine operations, load/unload parts, inspect finished work, and maintain safe shop practices.
This role involves working closely with engineers, production technicians, and operations teams to support multiple programs and value streams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely set up and run CNC mills and/or lathes using existing programs
- Load/unload parts, fixtures, tooling, and material
- Perform basic in-process inspections (gauges, hand tools, calipers)
- Clear chips, maintain work area cleanliness, follow PPE rules
- Adhere to published cycle times, setup sheets, and standard work
- Report tool wear, machine faults, and quality concerns
- Complete basic documentation and part tracking
