About the role

Project Engineer Job Family – Engineering This family is responsible for creating everything from the initial concept to the final design of Survitec products. They develop ideas for new products and prototypes, as well as evolving the design details of established ranges. They deeply understand the safety needs of Survitec customers and deliver innovation that captures the design strategy and brand values. They integrate innovative functional solutions with world-class creativity to support Survitec’s vision to become the most trusted provider of safety services Job Summary This role is focused on executing and coordinating engineering tasks to deliver Survitec safety solutions that meet the current and future needs of Survitec customers. It supports all stages of the engineering process, from product or solution design and adaptation, through deployment to assessing and signing off overall solution, ensuring compliance and quality at each stage Duties and responsibilities · Works with Survitec customers to design safety solutions that meet customer and regulatory requirements. Produces clear product or system specifications and specifies the methods, process steps, plant, machinery and equipment required to implement the solutions · Drafts the engineering standards and specifications for a range of Survitec solutions; contributes to the design of appropriate testing approach and process and supervises test implementation to support the development and validation of engineering solutions · Identifies shortcomings in existing production or assembly planning processes, systems and procedures; delivers straightforward improvements to planning and forecasting processes with guidance from production manager and engineering colleagues · Carries out inspections to evaluate the quality of engineering works and integrity of existing installations or structures; specifies remedial works needed to ensure conformance with specifications and regulatory requirements · Builds and maintains effective day-to-day relationships with contract service providers while working within an established contract management plan · Drives continuous improvement by identifying shortcomings in existing processes, systems and procedures, and using established change management practices to address and control improvements · Develops and works within clear project plans, delivering solutions on time, within budget and to appropriate quality and regulatory standards · Analyses product and performance information to inform and recommend improvements to engineering work within Survitec or its suppliers, contractors and consultants · Communicates operational project plans effectively to colleagues, explaining how this relates to the overall business strategy and action plan and the broader Survitec mission and vision; motivates people to achieve local business goals. Helps others get the most out of internal communications systems by offering support and advice · Develops own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gains or maintains external professional accreditation where relevant to improve performance and fulfil personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media · Follows Survitec Health, Safety and Environment policies, procedures and mandatory instructions; identifies and mitigates environmental risks and risks to the wellbeing of colleagues and others in the workplace · Implements quality assurance and business improvement change initiatives and makes continuous operational improvements to drive overall improvement to the project and solution planning cycle / process · Maintains and renews a deep knowledge and understanding of Survitec’s policies and procedures and of relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, ensuring own work adheres to those required standards · Develops and proposes own performance objectives; takes appropriate actions to ensure achievement of agreed objectives, using Survitec performance management systems to improve personal performance · Creates an environment where everyone in the team can live the Survitec Values · Creates an inclusive environment where our people feel valued, appreciated and free to be who they are at work · Understands, upholds and contributes to creating a safety-first culture within Survitec. Experience and qualification Educated to University degree level; or Further Education College with 2 A levels and completed the Survitec Apprentice and Graduate Engineer development programs 2 – 5 years of engineering experience enables the role holder to deal with most situations and advise others No formal managerial experience required to begin this role
