Position Summary: As a Straw Boss you will work with a safety-first team to complete projects assigned. You will support site crews with day-to-day labor and direction of work. Key Roles & Responsibilities: Assigns daily tasks to a small crew of workers to ensure a project remains on schedule. Monitor the crew's progress to ensure work meets the required quality and standards. Ensure all team members follow safety protocols and are properly using personal protective equipment (PPE). Acts as the main point of contact between the labor crew and the foreman or project manager, relaying instructions and reporting progress. Train and guide crew members on proper techniques and safety procedures. Ensures the crew has the correct materials and equipment to perform their tasks. Work alongside the crew, helping to complete the necessary construction tasks. Partner with equipment operators and labor helpers to coordinate materials and support. Actively participates in JSA and uses all necessary steps to complete tasks safely and ensures the safety of others working in the area. All other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Confidence to STOP work immediately when a problem is identified. Organizational and time management skills. Must be proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel) and email communication. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Management Responsibilities: This job has no management responsibilities.
