What You'll Do As a Shuttle Driver, you will: • Transport loaded trailers from the branch to designated shuttle locations. • Return empty trailers to the branch for reloading. • Safely operate Class A commercial vehicles while following all DOT and company regulations. • Maintain scheduled delivery and pickup times. • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections. • Communicate any issues, delays, or safety concerns to management immediately. • Represent Ben E. Qualifications • Must have Double/Triple endorsements with 1-year experience required* • Must have valid Class A CDL with 1-year experience required* • DOT qualified and able to meet all DOT requirements. • Good driving record with no more than one moving violation within the past three years. • Ability to pass a DOT physical, drug screening, and background requirements. • At least one year of commercial driving experience preferred. • High school diploma or GED preferred; relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of education. • Ability to safely operate tractors with 28', 36', and 48' trailers. Physical Requirements • Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds on a repetitive basis. • Ability to climb in and out of tractors and trailers frequently. • Ability to work in varying weather conditions. • Ability to read route information, product descriptions, and safety documentation. • Normal use of hands, arms, shoulders, legs, and feet to safely perform job duties. Position Summary and Responsibilities: The Shuttle Driver will deliver loaded trailers to the shuttle depot and return the empty trailers back to the branch. Deliver loaded trailers to shuttle depot and pick up empty trailers to return Maintain delivery time windows Immediately communicate problems with supervisor Perform duties by following the company’s safety standards Represent Ben E. Keith with professionalism, maintaining a positive attitude, following dress code and cleanliness standards. Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: • Must have a good driving record with no more than 1 moving violation in the past three (3) years. • Applicant must pass required Drug and Physical Screening. At least 1 year of DOT driving experience required. • Must have a valid state issued Class A CDL driver’s license with Double/Triple Trailer endorsements. • Must be DOT certified. If you are not able to climb in and out of tractor, then you cannot be DOT certified. • Ability to operate/drive a single axle with 28 ft., 36 ft., and 48 ft., trailers with tandem axle tractors. • Must have High School Diploma or GED – Work experience may be substituted for education. Physical Requirements: • Able to perform repetitive lift over 50lbs. • Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions. • Must have normal use of shoulders, arms, wrist, hands, feet and legs. • Must be able to climb in and out of truck and trailer. • Must be able to read numbers and product descriptions. The videos are also used to exonerate drivers in accidents. All drivers sign a driver consent form upon hire to confirm their understanding.
