About the role
About Redwood Materials
Redwood is localizing a global battery supply chain that seamlessly integrates recovery, reuse, and recycling — keeping critical minerals in circulation and driving the energy transition. Founded in 2017, we’re delivering low-cost and large-scale energy storage and producing battery materials in the U.S. for the first time, all from batteries we already have.
As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will play a critical role collaborating across electrical, mechanical, process, and controls teams to design and review electrical control systems and infrastructure for Redwood Materials' cutting-edge facilities. In this role, you will help define standards and best practices across Redwood's sites, lead cross-functional design reviews, mentor junior engineers, and drive continuous improvements in design processes and system reliability.

• Design high-performance electrical control systems, industrial control panels, motion control systems, wiring harnesses, network layouts, and I/O interfaces aligned with company goals.
• Develop specifications, standards, design philosophies, symbol libraries, templates, and QA procedures to support scalable automation.
• Lead cross-functional design reviews and mentor junior engineers across the team.
• Interpret P&IDs to generate I/O lists, define system requirements, and design panels and loop diagrams for plant construction.
• Create schematics, assemblies, and layouts using CAD tools while performing necessary engineering calculations.
• Support equipment commissioning, system validation, failure analysis, and hands-on troubleshooting/wiring in lab and field settings.
• Evaluate and qualify electrical components and technologies with external vendors.
