Senior Vehicle Inspector

12 MONTH POOL CALL - MORE THAN ONE POSITION - ONGOING The Senior Vehicle Inspector is responsible for providing high level inspectorial skills and undertaking and overseeing detailed vehicle inspections, including heavy and light vehicles and buses, audit of mandatory maintenance schedules, and other accreditation systems. You will be responsible for providing a statewide roadworthiness and compliance inspection service which includes undertaking detailed field assessments for oversize / over mass Special Purpose Vehicles and making high level decisions including applying appropriate controls to ensure the safe movement of vehicles with identified faults. You will also be responsible for providing technical advice to other areas of DIT, SAPOL, other Government Agencies, the public and private sector industry operators. Assessment of third-party inspection facilities and control of lease payments. The Senior Vehicle Inspector will coordinate specified regional assessments as a part of their duties which will see responsibility for negotiating and communicating the appropriate assessment outcomes of each inspection. Inspections demand significant applications of knowledge of the automotive industry and engage inspectors in an evolving environment subject to both legislative and automotive technological advancements over time.
