Job Description We are looking for a Software Test Engineer to plan and execute the verification and validation of a distributed ground segment software system, through to formal acceptance and demonstration. You will define test approaches against formal requirements, build test tools and simulators for external interfaces, and run the validation campaign that leads to customer acceptance. Your key responsibilities include: Define verification and validation plans, test specifications and procedures against formal system and software requirements Develop test automation, test harnesses and interface simulators, primarily in Python Execute functional, integration, performance and end-to-end validation campaigns, including scenario-based operational testing Support acceptance, demonstration and user training activities Maintain requirements-to-test traceability and produce test reports and compliance evidence Manage non-conformances and retest logic together with the development team Set up and operate test environments using Docker and Kubernetes in cloud-based infrastructure Support formal reviews and acceptance events with customers and partners Produce and maintain technical documentation under configuration control Essential qualifications and experience University degree or equivalent education in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline Professional experience in software testing of distributed systems or server-based applications Experience writing test automation in Python or a comparable language Experience testing REST APIs and system interfaces Understanding of requirements-based testing and traceability Proficiency with Git and collaborative development workflows (e.g. GitLab) Structured and quality-oriented way of working with attention to detail Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong prioritization and time-management skills Fluent in the English language Other desirable qualifications and experience Experience developing simulators or stubs for external systems Experience with formal verification and validation in the space domain (e.g. ECSS) or other regulated industries Familiarity with performance and load testing tools Experience with CI/CD pipelines and test integration into automated builds Knowledge of security testing concepts German or French language skills Work Location This is a hybrid role based in Basel, Switzerland, combining regular on-site collaboration with the flexibility to work remotely part of the week.
