Requisition #: 50463 Status: Full-time, Non-Exempt Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8AM – 5PM Onsite or Hybrid: Onsite Bilingual (English/Spanish): Yes: Spanish Assessment required prior to offer. POSITION SUMMARY: Under the Nursing Manager, the Phlebotomist will complete tasks including: patient and specimen collection, packing and shipping of specimen, preparing samples in a safe and skillful manner. This work that requires sensitivity, accuracy and confidentiality. The lab experiences high volumes of patients of all ages, must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. On a daily basis, review appointment lists, prepare the draw station, greet patients, and gather all samples requested by the patient’s health care provider. Must make sure to label all vials and containers properly for transportation to the testing lab. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform blood collections by venipuncture and capillary techniques for all age groups. Analyzing blood specimens using the correct testing equipment, when necessary. Perform in house CLIA-waived tests. Prepare all collected specimens for testing and analysis. Collect specimens for drug screens, alcohol tests etc. Perform data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner. Process billing information. Prepare specimens for transportation, including labeling vials accurately and matching blood specimens to patients. Will call patients that require repeat testing of unsatisfactory specimens. Will complete CMRs for positive STI results for primary care patients. Provide superior customer service. Greet patients in a courteous manner, respond to patients with empathy and positive interpersonal skills. Inspires confidence from patients and visitors by performing and communicating in a professional manner at all times. Is neat in appearance, always observing the dress code as established. Always wears lab coat (or approved apron / gown) and name tag. Assists other laboratory personnel as workload permits without being requested to do so. Assist in orientation of new staff members as requested. Continuously works at establishing a good rapport and cooperative working relationship with all co-workers. Communicate with commercial laboratories when there are questions about specimens, such as missing identifiers or dates. Inspires confidence from patients and visitors by performing and communicating in a professional manner at all times. Cleans and maintains all laboratory equipment used in the drawing and testing of blood specimens. Orders laboratory supplies, as needed. Administrative and clerical duties as necessary.
