Registered Nurse (RN) – Charge Nurse, Ambulatory Surgery Center Peoria, Arizona | Full-Time Lead the clinical team. Drive exceptional patient care. Help shape the success of our ASC. We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Charge Nurse to join our ambulatory surgery center in Peoria, AZ. This is a hands-on clinical leadership role responsible for coordinating daily nursing operations while providing safe, high-quality patient care throughout the pre-operative, procedural, and recovery process. The Charge Nurse will serve as a key clinical resource for the nursing team, helping coordinate daily patient flow, staffing, room assignments, procedures, and clinical priorities. This role works closely with physicians, anesthesia providers, nurses, technicians, and leadership to ensure the center operates safely, efficiently, and in accordance with regulatory and clinical standards. The ideal candidate is a confident RN with ASC, outpatient surgery, procedural, critical care, or other relevant clinical experience who is ready to take on a greater leadership role in a fast-paced procedural environment. What You'll Do Clinical Leadership & Daily Operations • Serve as the clinical leader for the nursing team during daily ASC operations. • Coordinate daily nursing assignments, patient flow, procedure schedules, and room utilization. • Assign nurses and clinical staff to pre-operative, procedural, and recovery areas based on patient needs and staffing requirements. • Monitor patient flow throughout the center and proactively address delays, staffing needs, and operational challenges. • Serve as a clinical resource and support for RNs and other clinical staff. • Provide guidance, coaching, and support to nursing staff to promote consistent clinical practices and patient safety. • Collaborate with physicians, anesthesia providers, and leadership to coordinate procedures and address patient-care needs. • Help ensure appropriate staffing and coverage throughout the day. • Participate in staff orientation, training, competency assessment, and ongoing education as needed. • Escalate clinical, staffing, equipment, or operational concerns to the appropriate leadership. • Promote a positive, professional, and collaborative team environment. Pre-Operative & Patient Care • Complete comprehensive pre-operative patient assessments, including intake, medical history, medication review, and clinical documentation. • Establish IV access, perform lab draws, and complete point-of-care testing as indicated. • Obtain and monitor vital signs, including HR, BP, O2 saturation, and EKG. • Communicate relevant patient information to physicians and the clinical team before, during, and after procedures. • Monitor patient condition and promptly identify and communicate changes in clinical status. • Administer oral and IV medications, including pain medication and sedation, as ordered. • Monitor and document patient response to medications and treatment. • Provide direct patient care as needed based on daily staffing and patient volume. Procedural & Intra-Operative Support • Coordinate nursing support for procedures and ensure appropriate room and equipment readiness. • Prepare procedure rooms and assist the clinical team with patient positioning and procedural needs. • Maintain appropriate sterile technique and infection-control practices. • Provide nursing support throughout procedures and anticipate the needs of the physician and clinical team. • Maintain appropriate radiation safety practices when a C-Arm is utilized. • Monitor patients continuously throughout procedures and provide timely clinical updates. • Help ensure appropriate supplies, equipment, medications, and emergency resources are available for scheduled procedures. Post-Procedure & Recovery • Coordinate patient recovery activities and nursing coverage following procedures and sedation. • Perform post-sedation assessments, vital-sign monitoring, and required documentation. • Assess patients prior to discharge and provide appropriate discharge instructions. • Ensure patients are stable and meet established discharge criteria. • Communicate post-procedure information and follow-up needs to patients, physicians, and other members of the care team. • Address changes in patient condition and escalate concerns appropriately. Quality, Safety & Compliance • Promote adherence to ASC policies, clinical protocols, and patient safety standards. • Help monitor compliance with OSHA, Federal, State, CMS, The Joint Commission, and radiation safety requirements. • Support infection prevention and control standards throughout the center. • Maintain accurate narcotic and prescription drug logs and assist with medication inventory management. • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, incident reporting, and corrective actions as needed. • Identify opportunities to improve clinical workflows, patient safety, and operational efficiency. • Assist with opening and closing responsibilities in accordance with center protocols. • Help ensure the ASC is prepared for regulatory surveys and inspections. Documentation & Care Coordination • Maintain clear, accurate, and timely patient records in the electronic and/or paper medical record. • Ensure clinical documentation is completed in accordance with center policies and regulatory requirements. • Communicate with dialysis facilities regarding post-procedure care and follow-up as directed by leadership or physician. • Maintain effective communication between the clinical team, physicians, patients, and other care partners. • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. What We're Looking For Required • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in accordance with applicable state law. • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing program. • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. • Minimum of 2 years of clinical RN experience. • Experience in one or more of the following settings: ◦ Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) ◦ Outpatient surgery/procedural environment ◦ Medical-surgical nursing ◦ Critical care • Demonstrated ability to prioritize patient care and coordinate clinical activities in a fast-paced environment. • Strong communication, organization, and clinical decision-making skills. Preferred • Previous ASC or outpatient procedural nursing experience. • Previous Charge Nurse, Lead RN, or other clinical leadership experience. • Experience coordinating staff assignments and daily patient flow. • Experience caring for patients receiving sedation. • Experience with pre-operative and post-operative patient care. • Experience establishing IV access and performing point-of-care testing. • Experience with C-Arm/radiation safety protocols. • Dialysis, vascular access, nephrology, or interventional procedure experience. • Experience with staff training, onboarding, competency assessment, or performance coaching. • Familiarity with electronic medical records and medication/narcotic documentation.
