Director of Digital Systems & Learning Technology

The International School Ho Chi Minh City (ISHCMC) is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Director of Digital Systems Learning Technology to provide whole-school leadership for our evolving digital landscape. This is a key strategic role connecting educational and operational priorities with technology, ensuring that our digital platforms, applications and learning technologies work together as a coherent, reliable and effective ecosystem for students, staff and families. Working closely with the Deputy Head of School (Academic), senior leaders, academic teams and IT, the Director will lead the development and integration of key digital systems, including our Student Information System, Learning Management Systems and wider educational application environment. The role will oversee digital workflows, application integration and data integrity, while leading the practical implementation of agreed learning technology initiatives. The Director will also help shape our approach to emerging opportunities including Artificial Intelligence, digital learning, robotics and other technologies that can meaningfully enhance the student and staff experience. We are looking for a collaborative and solutions-focused leader who combines strong digital and systems understanding with an appreciation of how technology can improve teaching, learning and school operations. The successful candidate will be comfortable working across educational, technical and operational teams, leading complex projects and translating needs into practical solutions. Experience within an international or K–12 school environment is desirable, but we also welcome candidates from broader digital systems or educational technology backgrounds who are excited by the opportunity to help shape the next stage of ISHCMC's digital development. About the Role: The Director of Digital Systems amp; Learning Technology provides whole-school leadership for the effective integration, development and use of ISHCMC's digital systems and learning technologies. The role ensures that the school's digital platforms, applications and educational technologies operate as a coherent, reliable and effective ecosystem supporting teaching, learning and school operations. Working across Academic, IT, Operations and school leadership teams, the Director provides strategic oversight of key digital platforms, application integration, digital workflows, data integrity and technology-enabled improvement. The Director also leads the implementation of agreed digital learning initiatives, ensuring that technology investment translates into practical improvements for students, staff and families. The position acts as the key strategic connection between the educational and operational needs of the school and its technical infrastructure. Routine IT infrastructure, network management, cybersecurity, device maintenance and technical support remain the responsibility of the IT function. Key Responsibilities 1. Digital Systems Application Integration Provide strategic oversight of the school's digital application ecosystem, ensuring that platforms work together effectively and support the needs of the school. Lead the ongoing development and effective use of key school platforms, including the Student Information System (SIS), Learning Management Systems (LMS) and associated educational applications. Work with relevant teams to improve integration between systems, including rostering, scheduling, gradebooks, reporting, assessment, pastoral information, enrolment and other school processes. Ensure appropriate data flows and data integrity between key systems. Identify unnecessary duplication, inefficient processes and gaps within the school's digital environment and recommend appropriate improvements. Maintain clear documentation of key platforms, their purpose, ownership and integration with other systems. 2. Digital Strategy Governance Develop and maintain a clear whole-school roadmap for digital systems and learning technology aligned with the ISHCMC Strategic Plan. Advise the Head of School and Senior Leadership Team on digital priorities, investment and emerging opportunities. Provide leadership and coordination for significant digital projects and platform implementations. Contribute to the development and implementation of school policies relating to technology, data governance, responsible digital use and Artificial Intelligence. Monitor developments in educational technology and recommend technologies that have clear strategic, educational or operational value. Ensure that new platforms and applications are appropriately evaluated before adoption and effectively implemented following approval. 3. Learning Technology Innovation Lead the practical implementation of agreed learning technology initiatives across the school. Work with academic leaders, coordinators and Digital Learning/EdTech staff to ensure digital platforms effectively support high-quality teaching and learning. Support the effective use and development of the school's Apple learning environment and associated technologies. Provide strategic coordination for agreed innovation initiatives such as Artificial Intelligence, robotics, coding, MakerSpace/FabLab and emerging learning technologies. Support the development of coherent pathways that enable students to engage with technology and innovation through curricular, co-curricular and extracurricular opportunities.Identify and support opportunities to pilot technologies where there is a clear educational benefit and mechanism for evaluating impact. 4. Adoption, Training User Experience Ensure that staff are able to use the school's core digital systems and applications confidently and effectively. Identify training and development needs associated with the implementation or development of digital platforms. Coordinate appropriate training with Digital Learning/EdTech staff, IT, academic leaders and external providers. Support effective onboarding of new staff into the school's core digital systems and platforms. Gather feedback from students, staff and other users to identify opportunities to improve the digital experience. Promote consistent use of agreed platforms and processes across the school. 5. Digital Planning, Procurement Lifecycle Work with IT, Finance and school leadership to plan appropriately for digital systems, software, subscriptions and educational technology. Maintain oversight of school-wide educational software licences and subscriptions, including renewal, utilisation and value. Contribute to annual budget planning for learning technology, digital platforms and agreed innovation initiatives. Work collaboratively with IT to inform longer-term device lifecycle and replacement planning, ensuring that educational requirements are understood within technical and financial planning. Support procurement decisions through evaluation of educational need, integration, usability, sustainability and value. Regularly review existing platforms and applications and recommend continuation, consolidation, replacement or retirement where appropriate. 6. Collaboration Leadership Act as the principal strategic liaison between school leadership, academic teams and IT in relation to digital systems and learning technology. Establish regular and effective communication with the IT function to coordinate priorities, projects, issues and developments. Translate educational and operational requirements into clear digital and technical priorities and help communicate technical implications to school leaders and users. Work closely with Primary and Secondary leadership to ensure that digital developments respond to the needs of both sections of the school.
