About the role
San Antonio Christian School is seeking a dynamic, experienced and collaborative leader to serve as its Bus Drivers. Located on a beautiful 71-acre campus, SACS is a non-denominational covenant Christian school with small class sizes and quality academics, coupled with a wide range of art and athletic opportunities which provide students with a Christ-centered education while fostering a life of faith and service. We are seeking responsible and safety-conscious individuals to join our team as school bus drivers. In this role, you will transport students to and from school and school-related activities while ensuring their safety and well-being. Responsibilities include adhering to traffic laws, performing pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, and maintaining a positive and professional attitude with students, parents, and staff. Strong communication skills, a clean driving record, and the ability to manage student behavior are essential. This position requires a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a school bus endorsement. This position is instrumental in implementing the school’s mission and philosophy. This person shall be spiritually mature and shall instill a life of Faith, Character, and Academic Excellence in those around them, adhering to SACS Heart of a Lion Core Values. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES/RESPONSIBILITIES Uphold ethical, honest, and respectful conduct in personal and professional matters, appreciating the diversity of conservative Christianity and following the Matthew 18 principle for conflict resolution. Maintain an excellent working knowledge of all policies procedures and handbooks. Demonstrate the importance of discernment, discretion, and confidentiality concerning the sharing of information. Demonstrate emotional stability, objectivity, flexibility, and optimism in dealing with everyday stress and communicating the Gospel of Christ. Maintain a clean, modest, and tasteful personal appearance that models Christian values and follows school policy. Participate and lead orientations, trainings, meetings, development programs, and activities that support the school's mission and vision, and model good attendance and punctuality. Cultivate volunteer efforts in support of communication and marketing goals. Attend as needed evening and weekend school activities and events. Respectfully submit and be loyal to constituted authority. Willing to participate in continuing education opportunities that will increase proficiency and job skills. JOB DUTIES COMPETENCIES/RESPONSIBILITIES Conduct a thorough bus inspection before each day’s use by using the appropriate bus inspection form. Complete the inspection form after bus use to report any unsafe condition of the bus, any maintenance that may be necessary, and miles driven. Drive the bus only when it is in safe mechanical condition and is properly equipped as required by law. Drive the bus in a safe manner as required by law. Follow established procedures in the event of mechanical difficulties, emergencies, or accidents. Notify the school office via cell phone of mechanical difficulties or emergency situations. Know the procedures for dealing with emergency bus and roadway situations. Do not allow unauthorized people on the bus. Do not eat, drink, or use a cell phone while their buses are in motion. Communicate frequently, consistently, and promptly to all appropriate persons involved in school bus usage. Inform the Admissions Director of any accidents, injuries to passengers, or damage to the buses, and complete accident reports when necessary. Give full attention to the assigned group of children and be responsible for their safety and well-being. Cell phone may be used only for emergencies.
