About the role

Overall Purpose of the Job: To conduct laboratory analyses of petroleum fluids in a safe and efficient manner according to written procedures and work instructions. To record all necessary experimental information, to process the data and prepare results in a format suitable for presentation to client oil companies. Principal Accountabilities: Conduct PVT experiments in a safe and efficient manner according to specified methods laid down in the PVT laboratory Work Instructions and Procedures. Conduct measurements under instruction from the PVT Services Senior Supervisor/ PVT Team Lead (or nominee). Interpret the measured data by use of laboratory software packages and calculation methods; record all such calculations and methods of working in laboratory work files (annotated as necessary for later review) and prepare the results in a format suitable for presentation to clients. Submit all processed data together with methods of working to the Data Evaluation Team or PVT Services Senior Supervisor (or nominee) for approval before release of the data to external parties or clients. To ensure client work programs are followed for studies which are allocated by PVT Services Senior Supervisor/ PVT Team Lead (or nominee). Keeping the client up to date with progress, and providing interim results where appropriate with the guidance of PVT Services Senior Supervisor/ PVT Team Lead (or nominee). Conduct ‘small scale’ laboratory maintenance and calibrations as directed by the PVT Services Senior Supervisor/ PVT Team Lead (or nominee) to ensure efficient laboratory operations. Arrange for sub-contracted services through the Compositional Team as instructed by the PVT Services Senior Supervisor/ PVT Team Lead (or nominee) by obtaining quotes and providing suitable analysis instructions. Follow all other administrative procedures and work instructions specified by laboratory management systems so as to comply with the requirements of appropriate accreditation. Be aware of safety considerations at all times and bring any perceived safety issues to the attention of the Fluids Laboratory Manager (or nominee) without delay. Job Knowledge and Qualifications: 1-2 years PVT experience including completion of the competencies set out in the skills matrix. Mechanical aptitude. Familiarity with computers and data processing would be an advantage but necessary training will be supplied. Use of careful (and safe) working practices together with an understanding of the needs for documentation of experiments.
