About the role

Summary The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is responsible for psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and conduct ing medical reviews. Additionally, the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner provid es patient education , consultation, and follow-up under the supervision of the staff psychiatrist and medical director. ______________________________________________________________________ Essential Functions : Ident i fie s evalua t es and addresses psychiatric and/or substa nce abuse behavioral health issues. Conducts m e d i cal assessme n t reviews of all enrolled cli e nts; coordinating and referring for s peci a liz e d car e whe n indica t ed. Provides psycho-education to clients and/or families abou t preventiv e ca re , sub st a n c e abuse, psychiatric or medical issues, and the use of prescribed medications with their possible side effects. Document s all psychiatric and/or substance abuse evaluations, di a gnoses , procedures, treatment, outcomes, education & referrals consistent with state and city regulatory standard s . Dir e cts medication management sessions. Performs other related duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities : None Minimum Qualifications : Graduate of an accredited Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Program. Graduate of an accredited Master’s Degree Program as a Nurse. A practitioner with current New York State licensure. Psychiatric experience. Ex t en sive t rai ni ng and/or experience in ment a l health and subs t a n c e abuse t re atment . Knowledge of insurance/managed care process. Bilingual E n glish/ Spanish . Qualifications Preferred : E xpertise in working with children, adolescents, and young adults. Bilingual in one or more of the following: Mandarin, Cantonese, Bengali, and others based on client needs.
