About the role

Position Summary The Staff Accountant supports the Company's accounting, payroll, and financial reporting functions through the preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, financial reports, payroll processing, and project accounting activities. Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll processing, payroll tax regulations, and wage and hour laws required. Ability to research, interpret, and apply payroll regulations while serving as an internal payroll compliance resource to HR, Finance, and Operations. This position assists with month-end close, compliance requirements, and financial analysis while helping ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules. Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities. Maintain general ledger accounts and resolve accounting discrepancies. Prepare and analyze financial reports and supporting documentation. Support project accounting, work-in-progress reporting, and cost tracking activities. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. Process and audit weekly and semi-monthly payrolls. Research, interpret, and apply federal, state, and local payroll regulations; provide guidance regarding payroll compliance, wage and hour requirements, payroll tax matters, and related employment laws. Reconcile payroll-related accounts and support payroll tax, certified payroll, and year-end reporting requirements. Collaborate with Human Resources to maintain accurate employee, benefit, deduction, and tax information within payroll systems. Partner with Human Resources to evaluate and implement payroll-related regulatory changes, system enhancements, policy updates, and process improvements. Assist with internal and external audits and compliance requirements. Identify opportunities to improve accounting, payroll, and financial processes. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
