Compensation: In accordance with California law, the expected salary range for this position is posted with this position. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law. About the Program: Residential Treatment Program (STRTP) : This short-term residential therapeutic program provides services to pregnant, parenting, and at-risk young women (and their children) ages 13-18 in the foster care and/or juvenile justice system. These youth are typically placed by the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) or Probation Department. Role Summary: Responsible for monitoring, supervising, and guiding the residents in their daily routine. Provides a healthy, therapeutic and safe environment for residents and their children in their direct care. Schedules Available: (9/80 w/flex) Front End: Sunday – Wednesday Back End: Wednesday – Saturday AM: 7:00am to 4:00pm, with a flex day 7:00pm to 3:00pm PM: 3:00pm to 12:00am, with a flex day 3:00pm to 11:00pm Overnight 11:00pm to 8:00am, with a flex day 11:00pm to 7:00am Work Location Requirement: Based on operational needs, employees may be assigned to work at either 155 N. Occidental Blvd or the I-STRTP location at 134 N. Occidental Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90026, located across the street. Flexibility to work at either site is required. Duties and Responsibilities: Provide supervision, protection, and care of residents individually and in groups at all time. Provide assistance to each resident in working with a group and in handling individual problems. Implement behavioral modifications as needed and directed by the treatment team. Document residents’ progress; identify possible need for professional services; communicate such findings to professional staff. Complete all documentation within the expected required timeframe. Complete incident reports for all residents timely. Actively engage residents in daily living, treatment planning outings, shopping, etc. Support resident with daily living skills such as room tidiness, cooking, sleeping schedule, homework, etc. Support resident with their infants/children as needed for their treatment planning. Effectively communicate with external stakeholders (Parents, CSWs, DPOs, etc) regarding residents needs. Ensure safety of residents while transporting to and from medical appointments, school, outings/activities, visits, etc. as needed. Support resident and fellow staff during crisis and employ crisis intervention tactics to maintain safety. Create and lead indoor/outdoor activities for residents. Provide medication to residents as directed. Ability to take initiative in managing day to day needs of residents. Ability to work independently in ensuring all program needs are met. Provides services from a Trauma Informed Care perspective. Maintain confidentiality as required by St. Anne’s, licensing, HIPAA, and other regulatory agencies. SECONDARY JOB DUTIES: Participate in mandatory trainings, in-service, and meetings. Maintain regular, consistent, and timely attendance. Participate in the Performance and Quality Improvement (PQI) of the agency. Work in connection with treatment team to create and implement treatment services to residents. Perform other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Must meet one of the following : Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology or related degree Have obtained a valid Child Development Teaching Permit. Have completed 12 semester units of Early Childhood Education, Adolescent Development, Foster and Kinship Care Education, or Psychology and have completed at least 100 hours of on-the-job experience working with youth. Have a valid certificate as an Alcohol Counselor, Drug Counselor or Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and have completed at least 100 hours of on-the-job experience working with youth. Have a valid vocational training certificate, credential, or documentation demonstrating that the individual is a trade journeyperson who instructs children in vocational skills and have at least 100 hours of experience working with youth as a mentor, athletic coach, teacher, vocational coach, tutor, counselor, or other relevant experience as determined by the department. Previously been employed as a full-time staff or served as a volunteer at a group home, short-term residential therapeutic program, or substance abuse treatment program for at least one year. Have relevant life experience in the child welfare, mental health or juvenile justice systems as a consumer, mentor, or caregiver, or life experience with children who have experienced high levels of trauma, or other relevant experience as determined by the department. Good oral and written communication skills. Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver’s License and a driving record acceptable to the agency’s insurance carrier. Physical ability to perform Pro-ACT, administer first aid/CPR and operate an agency motor vehicle. Ability to independently use a computer and the ability to learn necessary computer programs. Employees must remain aware of any personal emotions, transference, and/or countertransference that may hinder the ability to remain professional. As such, employees are expected to maintain composure during all interactions and crisis situations, implement a self-care plan, and utilize crisis communication to deescalate client crisis and prevent any serious bodily injury or harm.
