About Us Appalachian Community Services provides Mental Health, Behavioral Health, Substance Use, and Developmental Disability services to individuals, families, and communities within the seven western counties of North Carolina. We provide a wide range of walk-in, psychiatric, substance abuse, and crisis services to adults and children. About The Role Are you ready to make a difference in someone’s life? Appalachian Community Services (ACS), an ncgCARE partner, is seeking compassionate, motivated, and energetic Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to join our team. In this rewarding role, you’ll provide care, support, and companionship to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), helping them accomplish their goals and reach their fullest potential. Assist individuals in developing new skills and achieving their goals as outlined in their Person-Centered Plan (PCP). Provide and maintain a safe, supportive environment for clients at home and in the community. Use positive reinforcement and behavior modification techniques to encourage growth. Help clients with home maintenance and daily living activities as prescribed in their plan. Complete accurate documentation of services provided. Collaborate with a Team Leader and IDD Program Director for guidance and support. This description outlines the general scope and level of work for this role. Compensation This position is a fixed rate, with compensation aligned to role responsibilities, experience, and contract parameters.
