JOB PURPOSE PHINIA is seeking Software Developer – Engineering Applications is a hands-on technical role responsible for building, enhancing, and sustaining software solutions across PHINIA’s engineering IT landscape. The primary focus areas are OpenLM license management, Teexma (requirements/ALM), and the broader ALM/ECAD domain with a mandate to develop internal utilities, automations, services, and analytics capabilities that improve operational performance and reduce friction for engineering users. This is fundamentally a software engineering role. The person in this position owns code quality, operational reliability, and continuous improvement of the tools they support. They bring a developer’s mindset to every problem — automating what can be automated, instrumenting what should be observed, and building what needs to be built. This is not a functional analyst position and not primarily a systems integration role. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Key Responsibilities Software Development & Engineering Design, develop, and maintain software components — services, scripts, utilities, and automations — that support engineering applications with a focus on reliability, maintainability, and production quality. Write clean, well-structured code with appropriate logging, error handling, and performance considerations; participate in peer code reviews and uphold development standards. Manage work through version control (Git) and follow Dev/Test/Prod release discipline, contributing to a culture of engineering rigor within the team. OpenLM – License Management Own and evolve PHINIA’s OpenLM implementation: configuration integrity, data quality, and operational health of the license management environment. Build custom tooling around OpenLM data to surface usage trends, cost allocation insights, and license optimization opportunities for engineering leadership. Triage and resolve operational incidents related to license checkout failures, connectivity, and reporting discrepancies; establish sustainable runbooks to prevent recurrence. Teexma – ALM / Requirements Management Provide technical support and continuous improvement for Teexma, covering application configuration, automation of repetitive workflows, and resolution of technical issues. Develop integrations and scripts that extend Teexma’s value within engineering workflows — reducing manual effort and improving traceability across requirements, tests, and deliverables. Act as the technical point of contact for escalations from engineering users, distinguishing application configuration issues from deeper platform or data problems. Data, Reporting & Analytics Build and maintain data extraction, transformation, and validation logic that enables reporting and operational insights across engineering application datasets. Develop Power BI datasets and dashboards — covering license usage trends, adoption metrics, and operational KPIs — that support data-driven decision-making by engineering leadership. Collaborate with enterprise data platform teams as both a consumer and producer of datasets, ensuring engineering application data is well-defined, timely, and trustworthy. Operational Stability & Knowledge Management Maintain production systems with a bias toward stability: incident triage, root cause analysis, and lasting fixes rather than workarounds. Create developer-friendly documentation, runbooks, and support procedures that improve team sustainability, accelerate onboarding, and reduce dependency on external vendors. Continuously look for opportunities to automate toil, eliminate manual processes, and raise the quality bar across owned tools and services. Stakeholder Collaboration Collaborate with engineering IT stakeholders across regions to understand requirements, prioritize the backlog, and deliver improvements that align with business priorities. Communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders — translating engineering constraints into understandable trade-offs and providing realistic timelines for requested changes. What we’re looking for Required Technical Skills Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field. 4-7 years of experience in software development experience with a backend and automation focus; Python is required and should be production-grade (not just scripting). Strong SQL skills: querying, data validation, transformation logic, and performance-aware query design. Experience delivering production-quality code: debugging, structured logging, error handling, defensive programming, and maintainable architecture. Solid grounding in software development practices — version control (Git), code review, branching strategies, and foundational CI/CD concepts. Demonstrated ability to support production systems: incident triage, root cause analysis, and writing durable fixes. Preferred/Nice-to-have Skills Experience with OpenLM or other software license management / IT asset analytics platforms. Experience supporting ALM or requirements management tools; Teexma familiarity is a strong plus. Power BI development: measures, calculated columns, dataset modeling, refresh configuration, and dashboard design. Familiarity with ECAD domain concepts — component libraries, parts management, variants, ECAD BOMs — or engineering tooling environments more broadly. REST API consumption and development: building lightweight services, polling endpoints, or automation integrations. Awareness of enterprise data platform patterns (Data Lake, Datamart) as a data producer and consumer. Additional language experience: C++, C, or Java (relevant to the engineering tooling ecosystem). WHAT WE OFFER We provide compensation and benefits programs intended to attract, motivate, reward, and retain an incredibly talented, globally diverse workforce at all levels within our organization.
