About the role

Job Role/Summary: The primary function of this position is to work independently or as a lead for the installation, repair and maintenance of all plant equipment and to perform the maintenance and upkeep of the building and grounds. Job Responsibilities: Essential & Secondary Functions: Safety: • Responsible to follow all safety procedures and practices • Help identify opportunities for safety improvements and assist in implementing the solutions as needed • Follow OSHA, NEC, NFPA 70E, and any other local, state, and federal regulated guidelines. Quality: • Ensures and maintains the quality guidelines, procedures, and standards are consistently followed throughout the manufacturing operation. Responsibility & Customer Focused: • Responsible for preparing and maintaining all records associated with the work performed, including work orders, purchase orders, inventory records and all associated computer database inputs. • Responsible for keeping their work area clean and orderly at all times following the 5S principles. • May set-up equipment as needed. • Create, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and electronic circuits • Create, maintain, troubleshoot, program and optimize PLC programs and associated equipment. • Assist with experimental equipment according to engineering instructions, technical manuals, and knowledge of electronic systems or components. • Support 5S Lean practices: Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain. • Troubleshoot and repair equipment • Develop innovative solutions • Provide suggestions during incident investigations • Ensure projects are completed on time • Help maintain spare parts list and work with internal supplier to manage list • Read technical manuals to understand equipment and controls • Disassemble machinery and equipment when there is a problem • Repair or replace broken or malfunctioning components • Perform tests and run initial batches to make sure that the machine is running smoothly • Detect minor problems by performing basic diagnostic tests • Test malfunctioning machinery to determine whether major repairs are needed • Adjust and calibrate equipment and machinery to optimal specifications • Clean and lubricate equipment or machinery • Move machinery and equipment Integrity • All tasks are to be performed in accordance with Grote’s safety & environmental procedures and within OSHA, NEC and NFPA 70E guidelines. • Self-motivated to research and look for ways to improve on process and equipment. Years of experience: • External applicants must have a minimum of 5 years ”hands on” experience in a manufacturing environment. Training in: • May have to complete all training and education specified in the Company’s Maintenance Training Program Licenses in: • As required Certifications in: • As required Other requirements: • Must successfully pass and pre-screening assessments. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge in: • Advanced Manufacturing Operations including automation and robotics • Capable of reading and understanding routings, control plans, blueprints and schematics • Awareness of Arc Flash/ shock and all NFPA 70E requirements • Electrical: AC/DC systems, relay controls, industrial wiring including NEC codes, power distribution, motor/motor controls, and variable frequency drives • Mechanical: Hydraulics, pneumatics, systems, laser alignment • PLC troubleshooting and advanced programming • Use of Microsoft Office, Maintenance Planning Software, and Email (Outlook) Skills in: • Attention to detail • Troubleshooting • Multi-tasking • Organization • Excellent written and verbal communication • Using a computer & software Demonstrated ability to: • Perform maintenance tasks taught in the Industrial Maintenance I & II Training program • Use hand and power tools • Operate but not limited to process equipment, manual and motorized material handling equipment • Perform necessary changeovers • Perform quality checks and record as needed • Interact with all levels of employees • Work at a highly motivated level with a sense of urgency and dedication to accomplishing tasks • Adapt to frequent changes in work environment & prioritization • Work with general or minimal training • Leverage existing and potential training Experience with: • Conflict resolution • In-depth problem identification, analysis and resolution • Prioritizing and executing multiple projects • Teamwork • Manufacturing Environment Other: • Must be proficient in the use of a personal computer, laptop, tablets • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications and data entry • Extensive Excel experience and MS Project is a plus. Mental: • Ability to understand, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information • Ability to understand, remember, and communicate routine, factual information. • Ability to organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology. • Ability to organize and prioritize own work schedule. • Ability to understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines. • Ability to complete forms, use existing letters and/or conduct oral communications. • Ability to compose letters, outlines, memoranda, and basic reports and/or to orally communicate technical information. • Ability to communicate with individuals utilizing a telephone; requires ability to hear and speak effectively on phone. • Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word, communicating orally with others accurately.
