About the role

Position Overview: As a Meat Clerk you are responsible for preparing and serving meat department products, assisting customers with their orders while maintaining a clean and organized environment. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Greet and assist customers at the meat counter, providing information on meat products, sales, specials and promotions • Rotate products to ensure that the older items are sold before the new ones (First in, First Out) • Take customer orders for sliced meats, cheeses and deli items ensuring accuracy and customer service • Slice, weigh and package meat products according to customer preferences and store policies • Informed on various products available which includes ingredients, preparation methods and storing methods • Make recommendations to customers based on their preferences and needs • Answer customer inquiries and address any concerns or issues related to department – communicating accordingly to leadership • Maintain cleanliness in the meat prep and service areas based on health department regulations • Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards which includes proper storage and handling of all deli products • Remove products that do not meet store quality standards and dispose of according to store policies • Communicate effectively with management regarding inventory levels, sales and any issues within produce department • Ensure accurate pricing and labeling of all items and update/change price tags as needed • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership Environment: • Walk-in refrigeration – approx. 0 – 40F Schedule: • Monday- Friday 2pm-7pm must have weekend availability a MUST Pay: • $16.94 per hour Experience: • Preferred: Zero to One (0-1) years retail/meat experience Skills: • Physical abilities: May be required to lift up to 80-85lbs.; standing, bending, lifting and twisting for up to 90% of your shift; frequently lifting product from various heights including floor level to over your head; Ability to stand or walk at least 10 hours daily; working in various temperature controlled environments; the ability to operate required material handling equipment – getting on and off equipment throughout shift • Strong communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with peers and leaders on a daily basis • Organizational Skills: Ability to fulfill customer orders in a timely manner; ability to prioritize and meet deadlines • Working in a team based environment: Working independently and as a team player to ensure our customers are receiving orders timely and with the highest quality • Quality: Maintain integrity and high standards of product handling from all perspectives • Safety Culture: Maintain and drive safety policies; driving for accountability of safe practices throughout shift
