About the role
Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is adding a Medical Director of CPEP and Vice Chair to the group at NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi . Jacobi Medical Center is a 457-bed, Level I Trauma Center. To this day, Jacobi remains a respected leader in emergency medicine, trauma surgery, burn care, pediatrics, primary care, and women’s health. The hospital maintains a strong academic affiliation with Albert Einstein College of Medicine to maintain its high healthcare delivery standards. The mission of NYC Health + Hospitals is to extend equally to all New Yorkers, regardless of the ability to pay, comprehensive health services of the highest quality in an atmosphere of humane care, dignity, and respect. Their Values are built on a foundation of social and racial equity and has established the ICARE standards for all staff. NYC Health + Hospitals is the nation’s largest municipal health care delivery system in the United States. Dedicated to providing the highest quality health care services to all New Yorkers with compassion, dignity and respect, and regardless of immigration status or ability to pay. Our Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP) is a state-of-the-art emergency psychiatry service. The CPEP provides a spectrum of multidisciplinary services designed to meet the needs of our diverse clientele in the most effective and least restrictive manner possible. Our 11,000 square-foot modern service includes separate pediatric and adult waiting areas, patient interview rooms, a patient holding area, and six extended observation beds. The Jacobi CPEP has approximately 700 registrations per month and has an embedded Mobile Crisis Team that makes up to 75 visits per month. Because the Behavioral Healthcare Services Department of Jacobi has large Inpatient, Outpatient and Addiction Services, the patients evaluated in our CPEP are mostly then treated within our continuum of care. Reporting to the Chairperson, the successful candidate will oversee all clinical and administrative activities within the CPEP, including the delivery of high-quality and effective patient care, continuous performance improvement, community liaison and advocacy and will have an impact on the public health policy of NYC. Opportunity Details: The Department of Psychiatry has 89 adult acute inpatient beds, a CPEP, a Consultation-Liaison Service, an Adult Ambulatory Practice, and a Community-Based Assertive Community Treatment Program. The department employs evidenced-based best practices in providing the highest quality care to its patients, in a patient-centered approach that is respectful of their individuality, culture, and community. Directly and indirectly supervise psychiatrists and psychiatric PA staff. Participate in the management of complex cases in an administrative and consultative role. Coordinate the scheduling of psychiatric and PA coverage. Coordinate the collection and analysis of data integral to quality control. Maintain a good working relationship with services both within and outside of the Department of Psychiatry to ensure high-quality care for patients who present to the CPEP. Review and revise guidelines for standards of care to ensure that the CPEP meets or exceeds OMH requirements. Take a leadership role in hospital and corporation quality improvement measures. Provide leadership in undergraduate medical education, including actively participating in the clinical and didactic teaching of medical students, PA Students, NP Students, and Addiction Fellows. Work collaboratively with the Medical and Pediatric Emergency Departments.
