DVM Externship Program FROM CLASSROOM TO VETERINARY PRACTICE We offer a comprehensive, hands-on clinical experience designed to compliment your academic work. Transitioning from veterinary student to working professional is easier with real-life experience. Our externship program supports you and provides professional experience to expand your skills and grow your career. Meaningful Experiences Participants in this program experience everyday caseloads at a small animal or mixed animal practice. Under the supervision of a DVM, and in accordance with the state practice act, you collect histories, provide wellness care, complete physical examinations, assist in surgeries, develop diagnostic and therapeutic plans, participate in client communication, and help manage medical cases. You receive an evaluation from the primary DVM at the end of the program.
