Position Summary The Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, plating, and serving high-quality food while maintaining standards for safety, sanitation, efficiency, and consistency. This role supports a culinary program committed to fresh ingredients, responsible sourcing, sustainable seafood, seasonal products, and clean, wholesome food practices. About Our Culinary Program Our mission is to create flavorful dining experiences rooted in responsible sourcing, ingredient integrity, and care for our guests, community, and environment. Whenever readily available, we feature locally sourced produce and meats, seasonal ingredients at their peak, seafood selections informed by Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch recommendations, cage-free eggs and poultry items, rBGH-free dairy, FAD-free tuna, and products that support farm and animal welfare. We avoid high-fructose corn syrup and processed sugars whenever possible, limit preservatives and additives, prepare menu items with zero trans fat, and support responsible procurement practices, including a net-zero deforestation commitment for coffee and tea products. Essential Functions Prepare, cook, plate, and serve food items in accordance with recipes, presentation standards, and food quality expectations. Maintain compliance with food handling, food safety, and sanitation regulations; ServSafe Food Handler certification is preferred. Safely operate kitchen equipment, including slicers, knives, ovens, ranges, and other production tools. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of assigned work areas, equipment, storage areas, and service stations. Assist with receiving, storing, labeling, dating, and rotating products according to established procedures. Communicate inventory needs, product levels, and quality concerns to management in a timely manner. Respond professionally to last-minute operational needs, production changes, and guest requests. Work independently and collaboratively within a team-focused kitchen environment. Engage in constructive feedback practices that promote accountability, growth, and team excellence. Champion a culture of cleanliness by proactively performing deep cleaning, detailed spot cleaning, and maintaining an organized work environment.
