Job Description Role: Process Engineer * THIS IS A SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITION* Job Summary: Reporting to plant engineering leadership, the successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring, controlling, and optimizing manufacturing processes to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations. This includes oversight of batch handling, furnace and forehearth operations, process control systems, raw material coordination, troubleshooting, supporting maintenance activities, and driving continuous process improvements while maintaining safety, quality, and operational excellence. Follow all safety policies and procedures and promote safe work practices. Monitor and maintain proper batch storage, delivery, weighing, and mixing processes. Coordinate with Quality Control and raw material carriers to approve material unloading Monitor batch plant control system data and make adjustments to maintain process efficiency. Monitor and control furnace and forehearth operations to optimize glass formation and throughput. Monitor and adjust critical process variables, including gas firing, electric boost, pressure, temperature, flow rates, oxygen, bubblers, glass level, and batch line. Inspect furnaces and forehearths regularly and address issues; assist with changes, start-ups, shutdowns, repairs, and rebuilds. Support maintenance personnel during batch and furnace repairs and perform minor repairs and process adjustments as needed. Maintain excellent housekeeping and organization throughout the batch house, furnace levels, control room, and other assigned areas; perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or chemical engineering. 3–5 years of process engineering experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Strong technical writing, analytical, troubleshooting, and attention-to-detail skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC); Lean Six Sigma experience preferred. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple short- and long-term projects. Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation communication skills; fluent in English. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, follow directions, and maintain a high level of accuracy.
