About the role

POSITION SUMMARY Under the direction of the Center Manager, the (Infant & Toddler) Care Giver is responsible for direction and overall supervision of a group of infants (6 weeks to 3 years). This role performs activities that ensure the health, safety, involvement, and creativity of each individual in the group. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Supervise and monitor children at all times. Participate in regularly scheduled team meetings to plan for and deliver collaborative services. Work in a cooperative, respectful, and constructive way with co-teachers, other center staff, and parents, in order to maintain an environment that supports the socio-emotional development of children. Develop and use lesson plans and promote the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development and individualized goals of infants and toddlers in classroom activities. Demonstrate knowledge of how to support high quality learning environments in a center focused on children's individual needs. Monitor and report child abuse or neglect. Assure accurate and point of service meal counts. Support development of healthy eating habits for children and families through modeling, education, and encouragement. Assist in preparing and serving food to children. Performs similar job-related duties as assigned. WORK ENVIRONMENT This job primarily operates in a classroom environment, with some duties also being performed in a kitchen or bus. The role sometimes uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The noise level in the work environment may be moderate to loud. PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; kneel or sit on the floor; lift approximately 40 pounds; ride on a bus; and move quickly from multiple positions and levels. POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK This is a full-time position, and days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. unless otherwise approved by the Executive Director. TRAVEL Occasional local travel may be required for training / job requirement purposes.
