Our HR and TA team is seeking a highly motivated full-time HR Generalist, reporting to the Director of People. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record working across HR and TA functions, managing multiple high priority tasks in a fast-paced environment, and flexing between a wide range of projects and responsibilities. This position works onsite 4 days/week in the Brighton, MA office .
Responsibilities:
- Partner with the Director of People to achieve Compass Human Resources (HR) and Talent Acquisition (TA) goals, while ensuring compliance and quality execution of scalable processes
- Own and execute day-to-day HR and TA operations across the full employee lifecycle, from recruiting and onboarding through offboarding
- Build trusting relationships across the organization in order to provide high-quality, confidential administrative and operational support and guidance as the company grows and matures
- Serve as a first point of contact for employee questions, concerns, and HR requests
- Support and document key HR SOPs, including: new hire orientation, benefits enrollment and administration, PTO, performance management cycle, employee development and engagement, training initiatives, payroll support, recognition, implementing new policies and initiatives, etc.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to execute talent management practices tailored to our scientific and technical workforce in a fast-paced, evolving, small biotech environment
- Support hiring managers in recruiting key talent in a timely and cost-effective manner, across part-time, full-time, and contract hires, and work with external recruiting partners when needed
- Facilitate TA SOPs and meet headcount growth goals; write and post job descriptions, screen candidates, coordinate interviews within an ATS, schedule debriefs, reference and background checks, work authorization (i.e. visas, I9s), partner with immigration counsel, etc.
- Deliver a seamless and positive candidate-to-employee experience into new hire onboarding
- Contribute to workforce planning and talent calibration by identifying and tracking hiring needs
- Support benefits administration, including annual renewals, enrollment, and issue resolution
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to finalize reports and documentation, and to coordinate All Company meetings, interviews, leadership offsites, outings, etc.
- Manage sensitive employee documents, secure and audit files, maintain accurate HR records, compliant with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws, and industry best practices; adhere to a high standard of confidentiality and organization
- Track compliance with mandatory trainings: safety, anti-harassment, and insider trading training
- Keep current on industry trends, best practices, and employment laws to remain competitive and guide initiatives; participate in annual market surveys as needed
- Monitor employee retention and support engagement by maintaining best-in-class culture, competitive compensation and benefits, and a positive employee experience
- Leverage feedback (verbal and survey) to drive creative solutions to increase efficiency, improve processes, and streamline HR operations to best support our evolving organizational needs
- Empower the Compass Culture Committee to organize events that support employee passions, build on our culture, align with mission and values, and foster a positive work environment
- Over time, independently lead HR processes such as employee recognition awards, performance management, new hire orientation, training programs, All Company Meeting presentations, etc.
- Upkeep all relevant databases (i.e. ADP, EENavigator, LinkedIn, Greenhouse, Radford, HireRight); assist with implementing a new HRIS (HR information system)
- Complete ad hoc projects across HR and TA as assigned based on business needs, including candidate screening, support compensation, payroll, audits, and employee relations, etc.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of Human Resources or Talent Acquisition experience in a Coordinator or Generalist role, preferably in a small biotechnology environment
- Proven experience across core HR and TA functions, including but not limited to recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, performance management, and offboarding
- Deep experience executing HR best practices and working in HR systems with the ability to efficiently and creatively troubleshoot employee issues
- Strong understanding of talent acquisition processes, such as partnering with hiring managers, structured interviews, good hiring practices, employer branding; biotech TA experience is a plus
- Strong business communication skills, written and verbal, and ability to professionally follow up
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to multitask and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced, evolving work environment with a positive solution-oriented customer service mindset
- Experience maintaining confidentiality and exercising sound judgment when handling sensitive information; must operate with a high level of integrity
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships with external partners in HR and TA, and internally to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization
- Ability to work independently with strong organizational, prioritization, and problem-solving skills, while recognizing when escalation is appropriate
- Proficiency using ADP, ATS software (Greenhouse experience is a plus), Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Office Suite, and ability to adapt to new technology or systems
- Self-motivated and eager to take on new tasks and opportunities for development
