The Human Resources Director oversees all HR functions across a diverse portfolio including a casino, resort, gas stations, lottery retail operations, and food and beverage. This role is responsible for developing and executing HR strategies that support operational excellence, regulatory compliance, workforce stability, and high-quality employee experience across multiple business lines. Key Responsibilities: Strategic HR Leadership Develop and implement HR strategies that support hospitality, gaming, retail, and property management operations Partner with executive leadership to align workforce planning with business goals Lead organizational design, restructuring, and growth initiatives Multi-Unit Talent Acquisition Oversee high-volume recruitment for hourly and salaried roles (casino, hotel, retail, maintenance, food and beverage outlets) Develop pipelines for critical and hard-to-fill roles Ensure efficient onboarding processes across all business units Ensure compliant hiring practices in both Nevada and California labor markets Employee & Labor Relations Manage employee relations issues Conduct investigations, resolve conflicts, and support disciplinary actions Promote a positive, service-driven culture aligned with hospitality standards Compliance & Regulatory Oversight Ensure compliance with: Nevada labor laws and gaming regulations California labor laws for applicable employees, including: Wage and hour laws (overtime, meal and rest breaks) California Labor Code and Industrial Welfare Commission (IWC) Wage Orders Paid sick leave and leave of absence laws (CFRA, FMLA overlap) California Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA) Cal/OSHA safety standards Oversee compliance for multi-state payroll practices Ensure proper classification of employees (exempt/non-exempt, CA-specific rules) Maintain gaming licenses and audit readiness Compensation & Benefits Oversee benefits administration across all entities Ensure compliance with California pay transparency, minimum wage, and pay equity laws Performance Management & Development Support performance management systems across all divisions Support leadership development for managers in hospitality, retail, and property operations Drive succession planning for key operational roles Training & Workforce Development Ensure completion of assigned training programs focused on: Customer service excellence (casino/resort/retail) Safety compliance (gas stations, maintenance teams) Ensure compliance training for gaming and lottery operations Workforce Operations Management Oversee HR support for: 24/7 casino and resort operations Retail/gas station staffing Address scheduling, turnover, and staffing challenges typical in hospitality and retail environments Culture, Engagement & Retention Drive retention strategies for high-turnover roles Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion across all business units Qualifications: Education Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field (required) Master’s degree (preferred) Experience 10+ years of HR experience, preferably in: Casino/gaming Hospitality/resort operations Retail or multi-unit operations 5+ years in a senior HR leadership role Experience managing a large, diverse workforce (hourly + salaried employees) Experience managing multi-state HR compliance (Nevada & California strongly preferred) Certifications (Preferred) SHRM-SCP or SPHR Gaming HR compliance experience is highly desirable California employment law expertise strongly preferred Key Skills & Competencies Strong knowledge of gaming and hospitality workforce dynamics Multi-site HR leadership experience Expertise in high-volume staffing and workforce planning In-depth knowledge of labor laws and regulatory compliance Strong conflict resolution and employee relations skills Ability to manage complex, fast-paced operational environments Work Environment Primarily on-site in Primm, Nevada Requires flexibility to support 24/7 operations (casino, resort, retail) Regular travel between properties (casino, gas stations, etc.) Preferred Industry Background Casino & Gaming Hospitality / Resort Operations Retail / Convenience Stores / Fuel Operations If you like wild growth and working with happy, enthusiastic over-achievers, you'll enjoy your career with us!
