About the role

POSITION SUMMARY DEFINITION Under general supervision, performs a variety of specialized technical duties involving the sonograph and physiological pressure monitoring systems; and performs other related duties as required. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way would be: Education Possession of A.A. degree in related cardiopulmonary health science or closely allied health field is desired or post high school vocational/specialized training. Experience Minimum of one (1) year experience preferred as cardiovascular technician in an acute care hospital setting preferably in cardiac echo/vascular sonography department. Licensure/Certification BLS certification. Certified in vascular and cardiac ultrasound KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES Knowledge of: Anatomy and Physiology. Ultrasonography of the heart and vascular anatomy. Diagnostic and monitoring equipment. Ultrasound techniques and examinations Report writing. Ability to: Operate equipment used in monitoring and other diagnostic equipment. Manage emergency or crisis situations; requires judgment/action which could result in undesirable patient outcomes. Understand, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, standards, and procedures. Keep abreast of developments in the field of expertise. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Prepare necessary reports and records. AGE-SPECIFIC COMPENTENCY Maintains, demonstrates and is assessed on the knowledge and skills necessary to provide for physical, psychosocial and cultural needs appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her assigned unit.
