About the role
This position is responsible for the repair and maintenance of sewer lift stations. · Inspects, maintains and repairs wastewater lift stations to prevent sanitary sewer overflow and to maintain proper efficiencies. · Researches, locates and acquires parts and equipment as needed. · Changes motors; replaces motor wiring. · Maintains and inspects control panel box components. · Repairs pumps; cleans valves. · Cleans bar screens; replaces belts; greases bearings; maintains level controls. · Mows grass around station. · Performs related duties. Requirements · Knowledge of wastewater collection system operation and maintenance principles. · Knowledge of lift station inspection, repair and maintenance principles. · Knowledge of the hazards inherent to sewer maintenance work and the safety measures used to mitigate those hazards. · Knowledge of the tools and equipment used in the maintenance of lift station equipment. · Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs. · Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions. · Skill in the use of lift station maintenance tools and equipment. · Skill in the preparation required reports. · Skill in oral and written communication. · Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education. · Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years. · Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. · Obtain and maintain a State of Georgia Wastewater Collection System Operator license. · Obtain and maintain a State of Georgia Water/Wastewater Plant Maintenance Technologist – Class III license.
